UK DRAGON'S OATH

Oooh! I just got this from my fabulous UK publisher! Here's the UK cover for DRAGON'S OATH. It's going to be published simultaneously with the US, which means it'll release July 12th. What do you think? I really like the blue!

  1. That looks so cool! Doesn't it remind you a little bit of the cover for Marked?

  2. isn't Dragon a redhead though?

  3. It reminds me of the look of all of the UK covers. I think it's good continuity.

Dragon has sandy brown hair. Let's pretend he's in the shadow here, so it appears darker...

  4. he really looks like i imagined Dragon - but the Dragon in my head had long hair ;)dunno why. But I like it!

  5. I love the cover it allows me to keep my .own image of what ndragon looks like to me. This will definitely be on my summer reading list. :) Am I allowed to ask what part in time the book is set?

  17. I wish we could see his tattoos! Its difficult to imagine them, but obviously thats why the photo is cut off at the forehead, but I found the previous covers of Zoeys back tattos helpful in imagining them!
This is SO EXCITING! It definitely fits in with the UK covers. Can you give us a pull out version of him a la American Rephaim cover? LOL!

I wanted to ask you, in the book does it describe the tattoos as going down from their forehead over their cheekbones? I've always had that picture in my head, then in the Fledgling Handbook its just on the head, but I'm sure its decribed as on the cheekbones too?

Congrats on the new novella though, its going to be amazing!

  18. Very nice, I have to say I still like the US better, the purple of it will be stunning I think.

Will the UK be hardcover or paperback? The last few HON books have been paperback here in OZ. That's why I order the US. I love my hardcovers!

  19. I love this cover! I heart the dragon design on it. The patterns on the House of Night series always amaze me!

  20. I love it when you guys ask good questions! So here goes:
Maike: You're right! Dragon does have long hair. FYI: the "real" Bryan "Dragon" Lankford has long hair, too. Let's just pretend in this cover his long hair is part of the shadow.
Rudi: you may absolutely ask - it's a great question! The novella begins in the present, and then we go back to the early 1800s to learn how Dragon and Anastasia fall in love.
I'm Different: no, it's not out yet, the US and the UK pub dates are the same, July 12th.
MarktREO: I know! I really like the blue, too.
Gillian: You're right - many of the tattoos do extend down past (and over) my vampyres' cheekbones, though few illustrations show that. Dragon's definitely do. And regarding the extended pic of Dragon - I wish! I will ask my fabulous UK editor, though!
Hi Ang! That's a good question. I've just assumed the UK version would be in hardback, just like the US version. I'll ask my editor...

  21. I really <3 the HoN series, I started reading them a couple of months ago and I finished the whole series! I think you and your daughter write such AMAZING books! Can't wait for the release of Dragons Oath in the U.K the cover looks really good!

    ReplyDelete
  22. so thats what is missing, his tattoos! duh, i feel dumb for not noticing lol
and a hard cover, YAY! :D

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sincerely, I'm so sorry for saying this, but I really prefer the UK cover for Dragon's Oath, don't get me bad, I really loved the US version as well, but the UK's is really fantastic, but remember, this is just my opinion.

  24. I love your series and this will be a great addition I'm sure. The cover is great! Will there be a book about Loren Blake?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Thalles - you don't have to be sorry for liking the UK version better! I think it's lovely, too.

Uh, no, Dragonfly. No story on Blake. He was a user and just a wrong sorta guy.

  26. Amazing cover. The blue just looks so rich against the black. It adds to the unique and mysterious impression that all the US covers have had. PC, how is your next installment for the HON series coming? Will we be waiting much longer for its release? I'm so very excited to see what happens next.

  27. But will there maybe be more than 3 mini-books? I just thought that i would like to know how some other charakters live before their marking and i'm really interested in the live from rephaim and Kalona (why he's no longer nyx' warrior etc). Or maybe there would be something about their past in Destined? ;)
    Have a nice weekend

    ReplyDelete
  28. Christina - DESTINED is coming along slow but fine, which is normal for me and the beginning of a manuscript. It'll be released in November.

Maike - sure, there could be more minibook back stories. Don't have anything specific planned at the moment besides the first three, but it's always possible.

  29. OMG I can't wait... I love the cover of the book also. This is one of my favorite series..

  30. Thanks for answering all our questions! What you do with this blog is truly above and beyond.
I definitely concur with asking the UK publishers to give us a larger picture of the beautiful Mr Lankford. I'd even buy a special edition of the Rephaim one!It gives it a little (delicious)something extra. Too bad it wasn't my birthday at the Glasgow signing lol! Which I was looking at pictures from the other day, and I totally realise that you remind me of my mum! You are just so lovely. And my creeper shots of Seoras since I was too nervous to approach him, he looks like he walked out a battle with his wee Granda William haha just kidding, but I was totally awestruck.
Off topic, but I am really excited for more books! But do take your time with Destined! x

  31. ps totally just realised I called william wallace Seoras' granda. Is that disrespectful? a few hundred years removed he is though eh? LOL! x

  32. I love both the UK and American cover for the books. I'll like the book no matter what the cover looks like.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Beautiful cover and I like the telling of other characters stories. I love Zoey and Stevie Rae but it will be nice to step back from their drama for a little while.

Are you doing any more Goddess summoning Books after Goddess of Legend?
I was just wondering if I should be on the lookout for an upcoming book but I would understand if all your House of Night work is taking all your attention.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hi Prophecygirl - thanks for asking about the Goddess Summoning Books. I do love writing them, and I have at least two more outlined that I'm looking forward to writing. Finding the time is the problem! So, stay tuned and I'll see what I can do.

FYI: GODDESS OF THE ROSE is being released as a graphic novel early in 2012, and Kent Dalian, screenwriter for the HoN, is adapting it to a screenplay. Should be interesting to see what happens with it!

  35. wauuww I love the cover... It looks really amazing and really does fit the rest of the books.. But I love both covers.. the US one looks amazing.. the UK one is the same as the rest.. I own one US book and the rest is UK and 2 Dutch ones.. Sad to say.. I hate the dutch version of the books.. I'm trying to finish my fansite.. the dutch one.. and I have to say.. We keep the orginal names.. I hate the dutch names they used.. even some translations are soo bad.. especially the one of my favourite quote.. that translation really is bad.. They should have kept it all by the orginal names.. not this.. so it's difficult for us to finish the fansite..

But will post this amazing cover on the site... as it looks to amazing not to post :)

  36. I really like the photo.Hope in Russia it'll be also so beautiful :)

  37. Hello Mrs Cast,

thank you for your answer. It’s so great that you take the time to answer your readers! I guess not much authors do that and I appreciate that! :)
I just thought it would be so interesting to tell the stories from Kalona and Rephaim, because there were so much hints of their past in the books (for example“in another time, in another life that might have been true. But this time…” I hope I quoted it a bit like it was written in the book, my books not with me right now ;)) or just the life in the Raven Mocker group. There never were much informations about it (ok I know that Rephaim got just kinda main character after he met Stevie Rae) but it interest me so much x) And of course there were information about Kalona and Aya and the scene where Kalona fell but I’m so curious why exactly that happened!
But like someone before my post said, take your time for Destined :) I’m sure it will be great! I’m soooo damn curious!

  40. Hello from Tasmania, Australia. Just another fan that wants to let you know how much I love your books. My husband bought me the first one on my birthday just recently and I have since polished off the series and eagerly await your other books.

I'm really looking forward to the back story on Lenobia. She's quite mysterious!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love that you take the time to answer your reader's questions...not many authors do that. It's really helpful for us to be able to get our answers from the source of the books. I absolutely heart your HoN series and have gotten a lot of my friends hooked as well.

    So...just a few questions...

    1) Do you know the exact release date for DESTINED or have you only decided the month?

    and

    2) Will you ever come to the East coast for a book signing because I know a lot of people that would love to meet you and your daughter?

Really sorry if these are repeat questions...I haven't read through all the comments on your blog.

    Thanks again,
    Amber

  42. Hi Utau! Another Oz fan is always welcome!

Amber: 1) I'm not sure of the exact release date, but the big book sites will probably have it listed (like Amazon, B&N, etc.). 2) Kristin and I don't have any control over where we go on tour. Our publisher decides and sends us. I know they take into consideration bookstore trends and sales, so be real vocal at your local bookstore (along with your friends), and maybe we'll be sent somewhere close to you.

  43. So maybe one day you'll go in France too!

  47. I've gotta admit, I don't like reading many of these younger vampire style novels.. but.. I am a tad addicted! I'm currently at university studying English Lit and I've been putting off reading/studying all these classics so I can keep up to date with HoN :P
So backing up what has been requested above, if I'm going to procratinate I want to do it in style, let's pleaase show more of this lurvly Dragon model. hmm.. maybe throw some of the other guys in too ;)
These books are fab, keep writing! :)
