Los Angeles – November 2, 2011: Samuel Hadida announced today that his company, Davis Films, has acquired film rights from authors P.C. and Kristin Cast to their phenomenally successful House of Night young adult fiction book series.
“We are thrilled to bring P.C.’s and Kristin’s stunning series of books to worldwide film audiences,” stated Samuel Hadida. “They have created a world of adolescent growth against a backdrop of supernatural suspense that resonates around the world with young readers immersed in Twilight and Harry Potter. House of Night connects on a profound level -- what growing up means today.”Davis Films is known for its successful film series, including Silent Hill and most notably the Resident Evil films. “We see with House of Night the same franchise potential,” Hadida added.
Personally, True Romance, a Davis Film, is one of my longtime favorite movies, and the Resident Evil series is one of Kristin's favorites. Oh boy!
On a more HoN specific note - Not only am I impressed with Samuel Hadida as a producer, but he and I have had HoN discussions and I feel certain that Davis Films will make beautiful movies that stay true to the spirit and world of House of Night.
When I spoke with Samuel yesterday he asked me to pass along to my fans that he is very interested in hearing what you guys want from the HoN movies. There will be forums set up soon so you can give him your ideas. We're in the very early stages right now, so give us some time to get this going. We're working on screenplay and director at the moment.

Yes, Samuel is very excited about the possibility of doing as much filming as possible in Tulsa.
Casting: just through preliminary talks with Samuel we've discussed open calls as well as using known talent. Right now my guess is the final cast will be a mixture of both. Please don't send me your resumes, etc. We're not at that point yet. Don't worry - I'll let you know when we're there!

I love this series more than I love chocolate... so needless to say, I will be the first one at the movie theater when this comes out, sitting as close to the screen as possible, with a large buttered popcorn in my lap, chocolate cover raisins on the side, and some coke to top it all off :) Yup, it's all planned out lol

O M G! I FLIPPED when I heard this last night!!!! My fav series EVER!!!! can't wait till Hidden!!!!! So excited!But when you find out, will it be one big movie, or like the series and do 12, or if it will be like 4 books in one or something? I know this is a lot, but i was just wondering... I LOVED DESTINED!!! I cried so hard at the end, both happy and sad tears... You gave me inspiration last night and i wrote a total of 17 pages last night on my story's!!!Thank you! I can hear the screaming book fans know this is definitely a series that from the beginning I felt deserved to come to the big screen. I was just trying to find a way to e-mail them to please make a movie when I found the amazing news. Just to let them know, you have no idea what it means to me that you are now making these books into a movie series. Just recently one of my teammates told me I was weird and shouldn't be playing a sport becuause I really enjoy reading books like HON and it really made me feel unusual. Now that there's a movie being made it makes me feel so much better and I can't wait for this to come out.
OMG! I'm so excited for these films. I really hope open casting calls come to the Midwest-Chicago, Minneapolis, Des Moines, Omaha, Kansas City--that would be amazing. Congratulations on the upcoming movie adaptation of the HON series. I knew it would happen I just didn't really know when. For some reason I always pictured it as a TV series... but this is awesome news. I'm not a teen nor a tween... I'm a thirty-something and I love this series. Can't wait until the premier. Davis Films are know for being very visually stunning and innovative so I believe they will show us a world that is even better than we could have imagined. I just hope that, like with the Harry Potter movies, they remain true to the story lines. I'm also a Potter fan and I could have read the books along with the movies. This is awesome news!! I wondered whether or not it would be done but hoped so as the books make such fantastic reads!!! Only thing I really wish you guys take on board is to retain the detail and cast well with who you guys imagine playing your characters as I feel the twilight saga films were disappointing the movies feel like budget films, the actors over-act i.e it takes Edward (Robert Patterson) over a minute to say one sentence to Bella which is so over-done, I loved the books they are the only ones besides yours (out of my hundreds!) that I have read over and over, please be strong and make the films as good as the books!!!

I know it's probably been said before, but Please Please Please don't mush like two books or more in one movie? I think that's where M. Knight Shamalan went wrong in "The Last Airbender" I do like the idea of having open auditions though I would not be auditioning, if I did I would go as Aphrodite, but still. I'm really exited to hear about this, and I can't wait to see how they did. I'm seriously hoping for the best, though turning books into movies have been very prone to miss crucial points, like in Harry Potter, and with Twilight they messed it up too...But since it seems that you will be chatting with everyone, what you find to be important for the series will be suficient enough for all of us. I've seen that Megan Fox has been thought of for Zoey, I know it's not my right to say, but she honestly doesn't look the part. I agree with the no Kristen Stuart, and Robert Pattinson, they were good for twilight, but definitely NOT HoN, This is the only series since Harry Potter that I've been able to read more than once. More than three times even. Destined was amazing, and I almost cried, it made me so happy, but it's sure gonna annoy me to wait for Hidden, it's ok, I got other books to read through before then. :) Thanks for an awesome series and I can't wait for the next book and the movie and I dread the day where you finish this series. :)
One thing I would like to add, I hope you won't let them cast some pointy-nosed girl that doesn't even look Cherokee. I've noticed a lot of the fans don't know what Cherokee Indians actually look like. I'm 1/4 Cherokee, but I have the distinctive features, so I know what they kinda look like from my own looks (that sounds so vain, but I've had full-bloods tell me before). I try to say that and, well, the ignorant ones say I don't even look like it. It really frustrates me that people are so ignorant nowadays and I hope you have an actress with accurate Cherokee features. I'm very proud of my Cherokee heritage :)
I cant wait for this movie...This is gonna be waaaaayyyyy better than twilight and harry potter...a couple things tho..Zoey should look like she is of native american descent. And don't let the writers turn this series into nothing but a sappy MESS like they did twilight!!!!! And is book 10 gonna end the series???? If it is, I would really like to know what made neferet so psycho???
YAYAYAYAYA!!! lol, Please do not let the movie(s) get too commercialized, as in I really really hope that they keep the details and the words and lines and phrases all the same... Use the books as the screen play, no need in re-writing a new screen play, the books are wonderful and perfect the way they are! just make a movie identical to books! there is enough detailed wording in the books to make the movie look like the descriptive wordings

I am sooo pumped for this! I was just saying a few days ago when I finished reading Destined that there had better be movies in the future for these books, or I would lose faith in Hollywood!
I am also very grateful you have creative input because I have seen Hollywood whitewash stuff like the Wiccan-esque rituals in these books. Hollywood has mutilated amazing books like these, so keep a tight rein on them and stay true to the stories!
Unfortunately I doubt that there will be any casting calls anywhere near where I live in Morganton, NC but I look forward to seeing fresh faces and maybe some big names (I absolutely LOVE the idea of having Chris Colfer as Damien, or maybe even Jack, but I'd hate to watch him die!) like they did with the Harry Potter movies.
Anyway, best of luck to you and Kristen as you make these movies. I must say, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan but I was never at any of the movie premieres. For these, I will most definitely make it to every midnight premiere! My friends and husband don't get it but they don't have to! I was "Marked" almost two years ago and I never looked back!

As soon as I read the first chapter if Marked I knew that if the books were made into movies, I would be desperate to be a part of it.... I was hoping it wouldn't be for a few more years though as I, unfortunately, am probably to young (16 in 2012) to portray the characters in the mature appearance accepted today (with 26 year olds playing teenagers, us teens are running out of options here!) Also, I live in Australia... Why are none of the amazing teen movies, etc from Australia!?

I have been reading these books for over a year now. I can't put them down. Ever since I started reading them I have been talking about what a good idea it would be to make them into a movie or something like that. I want to congratulate P.C. and Kristen on their accomplishments. Please allow me to say that these book have inspired me to take a chance on the stuff that I have been writing myself and would like to someday see made into books. Thank you girls for giving us all such a wonderful series that keeps us on the edge of our seats as we read them. Thank you as well as showing me that anything is possible f we just believe. I believe that these movies will be as big of a hit as the books have been.

They could be such great movies if done correctly (not flown through like the first Twilight movie lol). Youre a wonderful author, let me just say this. I've been in love with the House of Night series for years. My only concern is that the movie, much like the covers of the comic books, may seem dark and evil, like a which. When I myself picture the house of night's books to be more spiritual and peaceful. But with Neferet, I agree with the evilness. I'm just trying to help a bit.

As an English major, I have always dreamed about being a part of them; the series or the movies. I would love to just go to an audition and try my hand. OMG I'm so f-ing excited I just started reading the books and love them.... I spent 5 days out of my winter break reading all of them, however I cant get my hands on Destined yet (which sucks!)and I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing the movies!!!!
OMG I'm so flipping excited about the movies!!! I absolutely love the books and it only took me five days to read them...I still have Destined left but that will soon be in my possession!! I just cant wait to find out when the first movies comes out!!! The movies should be basted on one book at a time so that you can get a full understanding of them you know like the Harry Potter movies... This way you can fit more of the book into the film instead of having to cram two books together and worrying/making sure all the info you need from the two are included. But ether way you do it I'm sure that they will still kick BUTT!!!!! =D I'm so EXCITED!!!!

YES!!!! I can't wait for this :) And wow, we (fans) are lucky that Davis' films got hold of this book series because I love the Resident Evil movies and I'm 100% sure they're going to ace this one! I am so excited and thank god, the authors can actually give their opinion to them because most books that are turned into movies, their authors don't get much to say.

I think that it would be a good idea for when you do that casting to try to actualy cas people who are high school age like in the books actors like logan lerman, Georgie Henley, Dakota Blue Richards, Dakota Fanning, Kaya Scodelario, Jeremy Sumpter, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Bonnie Wright, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley, Ed Speleers and so on cause i think that its really silly when it a 27 year old guy playing a 17 year old boy

Deona - no actors have been chosen for the movie. The kids on the HoN site are just a cool visual my publisher has done with videos, etc. They have nothing to do with the movies.

Mr. Chris Colfer would not make a proper Damien I know the perfect actor for that role and it is me and I will even get the contacts needed to have the right eyes because when I was reading the books Damien spoke to me. At the death of Jack I took a pause in reading the book to have a reflection on his loss it hit deep. The character of Damien Maslin will be mine I will fight tooth and nail to get it!!!
Oh and Cast girls I love the books. I think they have trumped the Harry Potter books on my list of favorites and that is a big feet and I can't wait for the rest of them to come out.

I can't wait! The House of Night series is my favorite series of books i have ever read and I have read a lot of books before. I just hope they don't make a movie that skews from the story line of the book like they did with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. HP4 only had about 1/2 to 3/4 of the book in the movie.

I want soooooo bad to play Aphrodite!! She's so mean and hateful but I absolutely love her!!! And she isn't all bad, in all reality she's a better friend to Z out of all of them cause she never turns from her, while the others do. I was so mad at them!! Omg I'm SUPER excited now!!!!

I don't know if anyone agrees, but I personally think that the cast should be completely unknown. It would just seem more realistic if that were the case.
How are the movies going to be separated? And how many? That's all I really want to know.

I absolutely love this series! It has inspired me so much. I've bought every single book that's out as of now, watching like a hawk for more, and now I hear these will be movies!? My life is complete! Or it will be when i see your amazing work on the big screen! I can only hope when I get my books published, that ill be half as successful and beloved as you guys!
