Hi Guys! Just checking in...sorry I've been so quiet, but I'm hiding at my house on Grand Cayman (Cammy loves "his" beach!) writing a paranormal romance novella that will be published in a duology with my good friend Gena Showalter (more info on title and pub date to come), and I'm doing the Master Cleanse (google it if you don't know about it - I'm really enjoying it) - so my energy has been super focused here.
I probably won't have any more movie news until early in 2012. I know my producer is working hard on the set of the latest Resident Evil movie, and I don't imagine he'll be free until after the holidays. Don't worry - as I find out casting and filming info I'll post it.
LENOBIA'S VOW will be released January 31st, and we're having a giant release party at The Book Place in Broken Arrow, OK. I'll give you guys more info about that as we get closer to the date.
HIDDEN will be the next big book in the HoN series, and it will be released in October of 2012. I'll be launching into it soon!
The comics are awesome! The next one will be released December 7th. Hope you're enjoying them as much as I am. My adapter, Kent Dalian, and I have been brainstorming more HoN comics and I'll have news about that soon. He is for sure adapting my retelling of Beauty and the Beast, GODDESS OF THE ROSE, to comic/graphic novel format for Dark Horse. I know my Goddess Summoning readers will love seeing that story come to life! I don't have release dates for the first of those comics yet, but stay tuned...

ReplyDeletePeople are coming at me saying I need to update the info with Neferet's novella because there is a name now. The only problem is their only source is wikipedia and other unreliable sites. Apparently amazon has it listed too.
So, is it possible if you can tell me if it is true or not that the novella bout Neferet is called Neferet's Curse? I won't post titles on the page until it has been announced by you guys or St. Martin's and since none of you have as far as I know of, I just want to be 100% positive that it is before I post it.

Hi PC! I'm fron Venezuela (and I have all your books, both in english and spanish). I have a doubt. In amazon, two days before Neferet's Curse are available to preorder, and I do it. But a few days later the date of the publication changed (first is set to be released July 17 of 2012). I don't are going to tell the new date of the publication, because maybe you're trying to give us a surprise. But then the Neferet's Novella is between the books 10 and 11, or not? I'm so excited with that novella. My favourite character is Neferet, and a book of her is like the heaven for me. I'm a bit disapointed for the change in the date, but I think is the better. I think that Hidden is based on Neferet because shes going to hide from the High Council. I will discover in the book.

ReplyDeleteGer - Neferet's Curse will not be released in July. The release date is being moved back so it can come out between books 10 and 11. You were correct! I do not have a release date for it yet, though.

ReplyDeleteI love your HoN series, and have been reading them since they first came out! I am so excited to read the next installment. I love how supportive and embracing you guys are of the GLBT community. But...come on! HoN needs a lesbian main character. It is a matriarchal society full of strong women, after all ;) Realistically, we would be all over the place. Unless you are holding out on us, and Professor Lenobia is gay as I always suspected. I said that if you hadn't outed her by Awakened, I was going to lodge a formal complaint ;)

ReplyDelete-------: Lenobia isn't gay. In Dragon's Oath the High Priestess and her Consort are lesbians - and not because I needed to fill a box. They're gay because that's how the characters came to me. Here's the deal: I don't care about gender preference. I let my characters decide who they love and desire. That's the way it will always be.

I'm currently reading Destined, and the part where Lenobia is riding Bonnie sort of reminded me of Shannon riding Epi in the Partholon books. The trust that they both establish on their first real ride reminded me of it. They sorta remind me of each other :) Love HoN and Partholon.

I noticed that the 8th book "awakened" seems a bit different in writing style and that the characters seem a bit different too, I was wonder if maybe Kristin Cast had more influence in the 8th book than she did in the previous 7? Not to say that the 8th book is bad because I think they are all awesome books, I was just wondering if it's just me or if there is something there.

ReplyDeleteI read Destined and loved it so much. I especially loved with a particular new girl who becomes marked. I won't spoil anything else though. I'm sorry to hear that people try to steal your books. I mean have they ever heard the words "stealing is wrong?" Majorly pisses me off. Since there are stores such as iTunes where you can buy the books for a reasonable price. I admit to have pirated books before. But when I started to research what I was contributing to, I stopped doing it. For me, the realisation didn't hit me at first. That it is stealing. Which is so obvious I should have thought about it. Now I just wanna strangle those who are distributing media uploads for fre without the copyright holder's approval. I think people need to hear that they are taking someone's well-earned income for a creation to stop.
I have a little question: when is Kristin's wedding due? Oh, and will she still be a Cast?

ReplyDeletehellokitty - nope, I write all of the books. Kristin serves as my teen voice editor and comments on the manuscripts after I finish them. The HoN world expanded and characters matured in BURNED. My writing style wasn't different - the setting and conflicts were.

ReplyDeleteGer - the Amazon synopsis is just the generic catalog copy. I'm not writing that book until this spring/summer. I don't even know the exact plot yet.
ReplyDeleteSame thing with L. J. Smith's 10th Night World installment called Strange Fate. Though that one has been pushed back for more than ten years, the synopsis seems to be generated as well.

And last, something I thought about considering Shaylin. Don't read further if you haven't read DESTINED.
Why couldn't she stay blind? It would have been so much cooler if she was a marked blind vampyre! I mean, she could of course still have the powers she got. Yet her sight could be more of an inner sight, where flashes of colors representing a certain person are seen within her own mind. But clear enough so as not to think it was imagined.
That was the only thing about DESTINED that I thought could have been better. Don't get me wrong. I still think Shaylin is an amazing character with amazing traits and powers! I just thought that would have been so cool! The rest of the book was wonderful!!!

I think it was pretty much from the beginning. It doesn't have to be that way, but I always expected him to become good somehow. I have been waiting for that since Burned. Although I sort of hade a hunch i both haunted and Tempted that there might be something good within him.

They go 'I agree to protect you from fire even if the sun should fall, from water even if the sea should rage and from earth even if it should shake in tumult. And I will honor your name as if it were my own."
Did you write these vows? If not, where do they come from? I would like to write my own vows for my wedding someday and these fit perfectly!

Allesandra - there will be 12 House of Night books and four novellas. At least that's what I have planned right now.
Trista - I more than matched the money I donated to Will Rogers with my Street Cats donation. I've been a longtime supporter of Street Cats.
Leonna - Wow, I wrote that book soooo long ago, but if I remember correctly I based the handfast vows on an ancient oath and then just made up the rest of it.
PC. I understand. Shaylin is what she came to be, and that's good! And I think the true sight idea was really good. I think it is so cool that she was blind from the beginning. And Erik's reaction wasn't exactly tactful! However, what I want you to know is that I think all the characters are, if not amazing in Neferet's case, but at least fascinating. While the good guys have so much dept in their personalities, which I really like. I like to see that the twins don't live in symbiosis anymore.
ReplyDeleteWhat I especially like is that you don't portray all the characters in black or white. Kalona has different sides, both dark and light. I know this is a good versus evil kind of story. But none of the characters are stereotypical examples of good versus evil characters.
Even though Zoey represents goodness, she still has darker sides. Just like Kalona has a brightness about him!
Sorry for repeating myself. That was not my intension.
But these are the reflections on the books I have had!
By the way, I read The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley and noticed how the goddess worship and tattoos are very similar to the Avalon books. Have you read the whole series? I think it begins with The Forest House, and that The Mists of Avalon is the latest and longest installment.
I read The Mists in a week on my summer break about eight years ago. I don't know how many pages it is in print. But the audio version was aproximattely 52 hours. I read them in Swedish. But I think I'm gonna collect them on Audible or iTunes pretty soon.

It gives more insight to the professors and their lives. I wish more writers would do the same. Do you know how many HON books you will write in the series? You are an amazing author.
