Finally! Kristin and I got a look at the cover for book 1 of our YA HOUSE OF NIGHT series, MARKED. It was definitely worth the wait! St. Martin's says they're still tinkering with it, but we love it! Check it out...
p.s. It's hard to see in this copy, but in the black there are beautiful intricate designs which are actually the tattoos that appear on the heroine's body throughout the series. Utterly lovely!
Good question Angel - I think she's kinda in shock right now. I don't think she really believed she'd ever see her name in print (even though we signed the contract, got the advance, wrote the book(s), and she's watched me go through the process for years). But now that the cover is done and May is getting closer and closer it's starting to be "real." I'll be curious about how she reacts to bad reviews, fan attention, signings, etc. Again, she's watched me for years, so the process is not foreign to her. But seeing me agonize over a bad review and telling me, "Mama, don't let it bother you - you're a great writer!" and getting a less than wonderful review of her own work (and we all know that happens, no matter how good the book!)...I do believe those are two very different things!
